Marjo to perform at the 23rd Oasis Rock ‘n’ Roll Montreal Marathon

Montreal, Tuesday, August 20, 2013 – On Sunday, September 22, more than 30,000 participants in the 23rd Oasis Rock ‘n’ Roll Montreal Marathon & ½ Marathon will enjoy a special treat as a reward for their efforts with a show by veteran rocker Marjo at the finish line. Starting at 12:30 p.m., in Parc Lafontaine, Marjo will give runners an energy boost and help them celebrate their achievement in style, in the company of their relatives and friends! Calling her show J’lâche pas, Marjo has put together a set of her best songs and the greatest hits by Corbeau, the legendary band of which she was a long-time member.

The Montreal Marathon is now part of the international Rock’n’Roll Marathon Series.  As it was last year, music will be featured throughout the city, with live bands performing at every mile along the route. In addition to spurring on the participants, they will entertain the crowds that have turned out in large number to encourage the runners.

The Oasis Rock ’n’ Roll Montreal Marathon & ½ Marathon will start at 8:30 a.m. on the Jacques Cartier bridge. The event includes a Marathon, Half Marathon, 5 K and 10 K which have been sold out for several months already, an unprecedented success. Organizers have already announced that 32,000 runners will be taking part in the event, nearly 5,000 more than last year. It’s still not too late for children to register in the now-famous P’tit Marathon, a 1 K run exclusively for those aged 12 and under. Come and encourage tomorrow’s marathon runners: their energy is contagious and they are inspiring to watch!

With its new formula, as part of the Rock’n’Roll Marathon Series, the race is now as festive as it is athletic. And with Marjo’s music as the crowning touch, the atmosphere will be more electrifying than ever. So mark your calendar: on Sunday, September 22, they’ll be running and dancing all over town!
