MONTREAL, June 4, 2014 – The Rock ‘n’ Roll Oasis Montreal Marathon is marking the 12th year of its commitment to the Fondation Tel-jeunes by renaming one of its races for the occasion. “The 1-km race, for participants aged 3 to 11, will now be called Le P’tit Marathon 1 km Tel-jeunes. This is a real turning point in the growth of our partnership with the Fondation Tel-jeunes,” noted Dominique Arsenault, Marathon spokesperson. “Tel-jeunes’ mission is to provide intervention services, which includes creating close ties with young people. This is why we are thrilled with our heightened visibility at this event, which motivates young people to get moving for their well being,” added Fondation Tel-jeunes spokespeople Marina Orsini and Maxime Tremblay, who will be in attendance in September to support the runners and kick off the race.

An official event to launch the new name is scheduled for June 21 at Parc Étienne-Desmarteau in Rosemont. Families are invited to join Maxime Tremblay to start their summer training for the P’tit Marathon 1 km Tel-jeunes. The race activities will be led by André Valiquette, a professional trainer and motivator at Cyclide, the training centre that designed the official training application for the Marathon. As it does each year, the Marathon will give $1.00 per registration to the Fondation Tel-jeunes, and encourages participants to make an additional donation if they so desire.

Close to 2,500 young runners participated in the 1-km event in 2013, which includes both a popular and a competitive division for the best young runners in Quebec.

Registration for the various Rock‘n’Roll Oasis Montreal Marathon races is still open and can be accessed at the following address: http://ca.competitor.com/en/montreal/inscription. The 5‑ and 10-km races are already full, but there are still spaces available for the 1 km, Half-Marathon and Marathon races.

About the Rock ‘n’ Roll Oasis Montreal Marathon

This year marks the 24th edition of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Oasis Montreal Marathon. Organized by Festival de la Santé, in conjunction with Competitor Canada, the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series is the world’s largest running series, with over 500,000 runners participating in events worldwide every year. The series started in 1998 with the simple idea of making running fun, which has transformed the running landscape by infusing the course with live bands, cheer teams and entertaining water stations, creating a block-party atmosphere for participants and spectators alike. Today, the series of marathons and half-marathons has spread to more than 28 destination cities, drawing visitors from around the world. Over the 17-year history of the     Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series, charity partners have raised more than $300 million through the events for a variety of worthy causes.
